Artiststatement

[Era of Individual Establishment: Inner Nature]
In the early years, beginning in the 1900s, I devoted myself to creating works in order to acquire expression as an independent individual. I believed in my own senses and tried to create a work that was my own life-size. From the experience of interacting with painting materials and making prints, I devised my own method of scratching and hatching. It became an automatic drawing on the canvas, and the scratch technique seemed to unearth the “inner nature” and mark the time of life. Hatching line drawing led to the development of paintings that visualize and record the passage of time.

[The era of coexistence production-Paintings that can exist and be completed by the viewer]
In 2012, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, I moved from Kanagawa Prefecture to Nagano Prefecture. Rather than relying on the creation of a single artist, the activity of creating together” with supporters, without relying on crowdfunding, while forming its own community, always develops activities with the attitude of experiment without answers”. became.

[Era under the influence of social conditions – To paintings that come and go in the virtual world]
Conflicts and battles to establish individual freedom are entering their final stages on a national and global scale. At this crossroads where the old system is broken and the new era is mixed up, people will avoid the influence of social conditions and acquire the freedom of time and space in order to strengthen their independent individuality. It will move to
“I want to have the ability to go back and forth between reality and virtuality.” This aspiration was originally the original mission and role of painting. “How can we realize the affinity between the virtual space of the new era and paintings with real materiality?”
I am also working on developing new activities in this unexplored land and presenting solo exhibitions in virtual space.
